Later in October, the arena welcomes Zara Larsson on the 23rd, Hilary Duff on the 24th, Hans Zimmer on the 28th and 29th, and homegrown favourites 5 Seconds of Summer on the 30th.

November brings Khalid on the 13th, Joji on the 14th, Benson Boone for three nights from 17–19 November, followed by Robyn on 21 November.

Beyond concerts, Sydney Kings and Sydney Flames fixtures give basketball fans even more reasons to make an event weekend of their Sydney visit.

Looking further ahead, acts including Niall Horan, Bryan Adams and The Script are scheduled to bring more major shows to the arena in 2027.

Event dates, line-ups and transport arrangements can change. Always confirm the latest information with Afterpay Arena, Ticketek and Transport for NSW before booking or travelling.

Why Stay Central for an Afterpay Arena Show?

While the hotel isn’t within walking distance of the venue, that’s exactly what makes it an appealing alternative for travellers who want more from their trip than simply sleeping beside the arena.

If your only priority is getting as close to the venue as possible, there are hotels near Sydney Olympic Park. However, booking a hotel near Afterpay Arena in Sydney for proximity isn’t necessarily the same as convenience for your whole Sydney trip.

If you’ve travelled interstate or from overseas, staying centrally means the hours before and after the show become part of the experience.

The Vulcan Hotel is a heritage-listed boutique hotel in Ultimo, putting you close to Central Station, Chinatown, Darling Harbour and the CBD. You can spend your day sightseeing, meet friends for dinner, head out to the show and return to a central Sydney base afterwards.

The following morning, you’re already well placed for breakfast, shopping, or another day exploring the city.

For couples, groups of friends and solo travellers searching for the best place to stay for an Afterpay Arena show in Sydney, that means a concert ticket can become the centrepiece of a Sydney weekend rather than the only thing on the itinerary.

Getting from Vulcan Hotel to Afterpay Arena

With Central Station only about a 14-minute walk from Vulcan Hotel, getting to the venue is made simple with public transport right at your fingertips.

You can travel towards Sydney Olympic Park, with regular services connecting via Lidcombe to Olympic Park Station. On selected major event nights, additional or direct event services may also operate. Olympic Park Station places you within a short walk of Afterpay Arena; only about 7 minutes.

Utilising public transport can also be more convenient. Getting to a major event is only half the equation, and getting away afterwards can take even longer. Thousands of people can leave Afterpay Arena at the same time, which means busy car parks, traffic and high demand for rideshare services.

Staying at Vulcan Hotel gives you another option: skip the post-show parking scramble, and follow the event-night public transport back towards Central, then make the short journey to your room.

You’ll still need to allow for crowds immediately after a major concert or sporting event, but there’s no need to worry about driving through post-event traffic.

And once you’re back in the city, you’re returning somewhere that’s useful for much more than simply sleeping after the show.

Always check Transport for NSW before setting out, as train services, trackwork and event arrangements can change.

Make a Weekend of it

If you’re comparing accommodation near Qudos Bank Arena (now Afterpay Arena), think about what you want to do during the rest of your stay.

This is where staying in Ultimo at Vulcan Hotel, rather than directly beside the arena, really comes into its own. The event remains the highlight, but it doesn’t dictate your entire itinerary.

Have tickets for a Saturday night concert? Arrive earlier and spend the afternoon around Darling Harbour. Wander through Chinatown, explore the waterfront or settle in somewhere for a long lunch before heading back to the hotel to get ready.

Travelling with friends? Meet for dinner around Spice Alley or Darling Square before making your way to the arena together.

Coming from interstate or from overseas? Add another night and use Vulcan Hotel as your base for exploring central Sydney.

There are so many iconic destinations to explore from the hotel, such as the Sydney Opera House, Art Gallery of New South Wales, Botanic Gardens, and Queen Victoria Building - all less than a 14-minute drive away.

When your show is finished, you can return to the Vulcan Hotel for a quiet night’s rest, or keep the evening going and explore the best of Sydney’s central nightlife.
