I have stayed at the Vulcan Hotel twice now in leafy green Ultimo. It is a beautiful cosy well-kept and appointed boutique hotel with excellent staff and friendly owners. Twice now the staff have bent over backwards to help me out when needed and are super friendly. The breakfast/bar is beautifully decorated, and the breakfast offering is great. There are places to eat dinner close by. Both times my rooms were clean, tidied and well appointed. There is also a fantastic indoor courtyard with tropical plants where you can take a glass of wine and nibbles to relax in. It is walking distance to the Sydney Fish Market, Darling Harbour and the Chinese Friendship Garden (complete with live water dragons) and a short uber/taxi to Sydney CBD or walk to George St light rail/trains/buses. It's my "go to" hotel in Sydney now.

The Vulcan Hotel is a delightful boutique hotel conveniently located in Ultimo.
It has a warm and welcoming atmosphere with staff members such as Anj in reception going out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. She and owners Carole and Harvey have extensive local knowledge and can direct the visitor to hidden nearby gems like White Rabbit Gallery and Spice Alley.
The hotel also has a quiet and pleasant wine bar with a happy hour between 5pm and 7pm.

The Vulcan is a great hotel in a fabulous location. The reception staff were efficient and friendly. I was surprised to learn on check -in that breakfast was included. I didn't read that detail!! The room was spacious, the bathroom, however was quite small. We had a room with a large balcony. It was clean and the bed was comfy. It was also very quiet. Breakfast included everything you would expect from a small buffet and the kitchen staff kept restocking as required. I will definitely be staying at this hotel next time I visit Sydney.

Named after the Roman god of fire, the Vulcan Hotel is steeped in rich history and heritage welcoming local and international travellers across the ages. Built in 1894, the hotel was a popular halt for travellers in the Sydney City district who dealt in the trade of wool, shipping and ironworks. In the later years the Vulcan became a popular watering hole for the locals with a thriving jazz and music scene, playing host to famous bands and is fondly remembered as a popular yesteryear venue.

In 2002, the Vulcan underwent a multi-million dollar refurbishment to bring it up to date with modern amenities and luxuries, while retaining its heritage charm. Further additions were made to add extra rooms, the Cafe Vulcan and our popular courtyard. Stay with us, and make the Vulcan your home away from home. We wouldn't do it any other way. That’s the Vulcan way.
